International conference on food security challenges and solutions organized in the Department of Agriculture

The Department of Agriculture of Shri Ram College organized a two-day international conference on the topic "International Conference on Food Security Challenges and Solutions". On the first day of this international conference, Santosh Kumar Yadav, Deputy Director Agriculture, Muzaffarnagar was the chief guest and special guests included Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director of Shri Ram College, Dr. Prerna Mittal, Principal of Shri Ram College, Dean Academic Dr. Vineet Kumar Sharma, Head of Department of Agriculture Dr. M. Naeem and Head of Department of Home Science Dr. Sweta Rathi etc.

On this occasion, on the first day of the international conference, students made different types of Indian and international food and posters in which they showed how all people can get nutritious food. During the food exhibition, all the students prepared food in different ways and also kept in mind how the food can be kept safe for a long time.

On the first day of this program, food products, posters and oral exhibition were done by the students of the college and other colleges. In which keeping in mind 122 types of coarse and fine grains like ragi, millet, sawa, maize, gram, sorghum, soybean milk and using powder, different types of products were made which are completely healthy and disease free.

The objective of this conference was to spread awareness about food safety. In today's time it is seen that on Diwali, Eid or other festivals, emphasis is mostly given on milk products and when the demand of milk is more than milk production, the risk of adulteration increases. In such a situation, we can make other dishes better than milk which are millet, ragi barfi, yoghurt, gulabjamun and we can prepare sweets and namkeen from coarse grains and along with this, natural vinegar, jaggery, sugar, sugarcane etc. have to be used.

During this program, the chief guest Santosh Kumar Yadav said that fried food which is currently in vogue should be avoided and different types of dishes should be prepared using milk and coarse grains such as ragi, millet, kodo, sawa so that healthy and nutritious food can be obtained and the food needs of the growing population can be met.

On this occasion, the Principal of Shri Ram College, Dr. Prerna Mittal said during the program that food security and nutritious dishes made from coarse and milk are very important for health, for which everyone needs a nutritious diet.

On this occasion, the Director of Shri Ram College, Dr. Ashok Kumar said that safe and nutritious food is required for the development of all people, for which sustainable agriculture, reducing food wastage and adopting new agricultural methods are necessary. If we all work together, we can not only solve the problem of hunger and malnutrition, but can also move towards a stable, healthy and prosperous society.

On this occasion, Director of Shri Ram College, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Principal of Shri Ram College, Dr. Prerna Mittal, Head of Department, Dr. Naeem, Dr. Anjali, Dr. Abid Ahmed, Dr. Praveen Malik, Dr. Vikrant, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Pradeep Singh, Dr. Riya Kumari and Shri Rajkumar had a commendable contribution in making the program successful.
