The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and the Department of Fine Arts of Shri Ram College jointly organized a one-day workshop on cinematography and photography. The workshop was organized in collaboration with Canon India and Kukin Camera Zone, Meerut. In the one-day photography and videography workshop, senior photographer specialist Jitendra Kumar and cinematography specialist Amit Sharma from Canon India were present as keynote speakers on different topics.
In the first session of the workshop, senior photography specialist Jitendra Kumar taught the basics of photography to the students of Journalism and Mass Communication Department and Fine Arts. He explained the importance of light in photography to the students in detail in a practical way. He also told that different types of cameras are used for photography, which depends on your need. He said that if you want to do simple photography then you can do it with any digital camera, but if you want a good photograph then you will have to use DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera and good quality lens. He told that in today's modern era, there are immense employment opportunities in this field. But for this, you must have technical knowledge of camera. He told that having accurate knowledge of camera aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focusing, angles, shots and lighting is very important for a good photographer. He told that in the present time, there are immense possibilities in the field of photography, event photography has emerged as a new employment opportunity in this field.
The needs of people are constantly increasing and time is limited. In such a situation, people want to make every moment memorable, for which the need of experienced people in this field is felt. If you want to use this art commercially, then this is a good medium for you and there are unlimited possibilities. He said that the camera is our eyes and whatever the eyes in the form of camera are seeing, they show it to us through photos. Along with this, he gave information to the students about different types of cameras and explained in detail about their use. In the second session of the workshop, cinematographer Amit Sharma gave information to the students about the nuances of cinematography. He told the students about different types of video cameras and their features. He said that Canon India Pvt. Ltd. manufactures many types of video cameras which are used in film production, news channels, travel channels and various events. He gave detailed information to the students about white balance and track in and track out, tilt up tilt down, crane shot, helicopter shot etc. and also told about the modern features of video cameras.
The workshop was inaugurated by photography instructor Jitendra Kumar and cinematographer Amit Sharma from Canon India Pvt. Ltd. and Canon India Pvt. Ltd. State General Secretary Kukin Kumar, Head of Journalism and Mass Communication Department Ravi Gautam, Director of Fine Arts Manoj Dhiman jointly by lighting the lamp and starting the program.
At the end of the program, Ravi Gautam, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, while giving information about the workshop, said that through this workshop, the students learned about various types of modern cameras and lenses. He said that the students got the opportunity to learn about the modern techniques of photography and cinematography. Motivating the students, he said that there are unlimited employment possibilities and a bright future in this field. Today, the field of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) is attracting the youth due to its unlimited possibilities. Studying in this field helps the students in preparing for competitive examinations and there are also many possibilities in various fields like mass media, advertising, public relations, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, government advertising agency, news agency etc. At the end of the program, he thanked senior photography specialist Jitendra Kumar, cinematographer Amit Sharma and Canon India Pvt. Ltd. State General Secretary Kukin Kumar and honored them by presenting a memento on behalf of the college. The program was successfully conducted by Babli, a student of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Mayank Verma, Shivani Barman, Kahkasha Mirza, Priyanshu Sharma, Binnu Pundir, Soni Srivastava, Reena Tyagi, etc. provided special support in making the program successful.
