A one-day training program for paralegal volunteers

A one-day training program for paralegal volunteers was organized at the premises of Shri Ram College of Law, under the joint auspices of the District Legal Services Authority, Muzaffarnagar, and the college, as part of a cluster-based training program.  The chief guest was Mr. Virendra Kumar Singh, District and Sessions Judge, Muzaffarnagar, and other guests included Mr. Sita Ram, ADJ, Secretary, DLSA Muzaffarnagar, Mr. Prabodh Kumar Verma, ADJ, Secretary, DLSA Saharanpur, Mr. Shrey Shukla, ADJ, Secretary, DLSA Bijnor, and Ms. Anchal Kasana, Civil Judge (Senior Division), Shamli.

The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the guests. All the guests were welcomed with bouquets of flowers. Initiating the program, college lecturer Anchal Agarwal stated that today's program focuses on government welfare schemes and providing assistance to society through legal volunteers. The objective of this program is to explain how the benefits of government schemes can be effectively delivered to the public.

Mr. Virendra Kumar Singh, District and Sessions Judge, Muzaffarnagar, congratulated everyone for organizing today's program and said that such programs are necessary to be organized from time to time so that the public can benefit from the schemes.

Four informative sessions were conducted during the program. In the first session, Mr. Shrey Shukla spoke on drug awareness and wellness schemes, Ms. Chhavi Rani on the child marriage eradication scheme, Mr. Varun Kumar on service schemes for persons with mental illness and intellectual disabilities, Mr. Rajiv Kumar on the senior citizen scheme, Ms. Nahid Parveen on human trafficking, and Mr. Manoj Kumar on the process of applying for specific assistance and documentation.

In the second session, Mr. Sanjay Kumar (District Probation Officer) Muzaffarnagar, Mr. Devesh Singh, Assistant Labour Commissioner Muzaffarnagar, Mr. Varun Kumar, Mr. Kamlesh Kumar, District Social Welfare Officer, Shivangi Walian, and Neena Tyagi delivered lectures on various government welfare schemes. In the third session, Dr. Ravindra Pratap Singh, Principal of Chaudhary Harchandra Singh College of Law, Khurja, delivered a lecture on the Juvenile Justice Act, Shri Vishwendra Panwar, Lecturer at Shri Ram College of Law, spoke on the POCSO Act, Shri Ashish Kumar, Lecturer at Shri Ram College of Law, discussed child labor laws, and Dr. Poonam Sharma, Principal of Shri Ram College of Law, gave a lecture on sexual harassment of women at the workplace.

In the fourth session, Shri Prabodh Verma, Secretary, DLSA, Additional District Judge, Saharanpur, and Shrey Shukla, Secretary, DLSA, Additional District Judge, Bijnor, delivered lectures on field documentation, case identification, and filling out forms and applications.

At the end of the program, Shri Sita Ram, ADJ, Secretary, DLA, Muzaffarnagar, expressed gratitude to the guests. The program concluded with the national anthem. The program was conducted by Anchal Agarwal, Lecturer at Shri Ram College of Law.
