Financial Literacy Awareness Program

The Commerce Faculty of Shri Ram College organized a one-day "Financial Literacy Awareness Program" for students and faculty in the Management Block. The program began with the lighting of a lamp jointly by Shri Ram College Director Dr. Ashok Kumar, Principal Dr. Prerna Mittal, Vice Principal Saurabh Mittal, Commerce Department Head Dr. Ashfaq Ali, and the program's keynote speaker Prashant Dixit. First, Dr. Ashfaq Ali, Commerce Department Head, and Shri Ram College Director Dr. Ashok Kumar welcomed the keynote speaker by presenting him with a bouquet. Dr. Ashfaq Ali, Commerce Faculty Head, briefly explained the awareness program and invited the keynote speaker to the stage for his lecture.

The keynote speaker, Prashant Dixit, briefed everyone on the program's objectives and explained that before investing in the stock market, we must have three types of accounts: savings, demat, and trading accounts. He also explained that six thousand companies are registered on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Before investing in any company, it's important to consider its price-earnings ratio, its debt, and its balance sheet status. He informed all the students about investment and cybersecurity. He explained how we can save a portion of our income and how and where to invest it. He also provided detailed information about the Bombay Stock Exchange and SEBI. He also informed the students about insurance, explaining how we can protect our families from financial difficulties by purchasing health and life insurance. He also provided detailed information about inflation and informed them about investment methods in the capital market. He explained in detail about mutual funds, demat accounts, SIP applications, and other applications. A question-and-answer session was held at the end of the program, in which all students participated enthusiastically. The keynote speaker also answered all the students' questions satisfactorily. Following this, Dr. Saurabh Mittal, Vice Principal of the Commerce Department, and Dr. Ashfaq Ali, Head of the Department, jointly presented the keynote speaker with a memento and expressed their gratitude for his valuable time. The Head of the Commerce Department formally concluded the program with a vote of thanks and emphasized the need to organize similar programs in the future.

Department faculty members Dr. Aniruddh Kumar, Dr. Mukesh Kumar Chauhan, Abhishek Kumar, Anuj Verma, Ms. Ritu, Ms. Sonali Arora, and Pooja Singhal played a significant role in making the program a success.
