On the occasion of National Sports Day, tribute was paid to hockey magician Major Dhyan Chandra at Shri Ram College today. Today, on National Sports Day, a running competition of 5000 and 1500 meters (women and men) was organized in the college, in which students participated enthusiastically.
The Department of Physical Education organized 5000 and 1500 meters (women and men) running competition in which the students of Physical Education Department participated with great enthusiasm. In the 5000 meter race competition, first place Vipin Kumar, second place Shahib Saifi and third place Nikhil Dhiman got BPES.
In the same 1500 meters (men) category, first place Sagar, second place Sharukh Rathod and third place Rajan Deshwal and Anant Tomar got jointly.
Neha got first place, Shivani Yadav got second place and Ritu got third place in 1500 meters (women) category race.
On this occasion, Dr. Prerna Mittal, Principal of Shri Ram College, while throwing light on the life of hockey magician Major Dhyan Chand, gave information related to his personality to the students and talked about taking inspiration from his life. He said that Major Dhyan Chand played an important role in making hockey a national sport. He said that students should play like Major Dhyanchand with full of self-confidence and stay focused towards their goal.
On this occasion, Dr. Nishant Kumar Rathi, Director, Shri Ram College told the students that sports makes a person physically healthy and disciplined.
On this occasion, the Head of the Department of Physical Education, Pramod Kumar said that the players should take advantage of the scientific sports facilities and methods of today. Today youth are getting employment opportunities through sports. Therefore, today's young generation should take sports seriously and disciplined. He said that the way athletics players have brought laurels to India by winning gold medals in Commonwealth Games this year. Surely this will inspire many students and they will bring laurels to the college and the country in the sports world.
