On the third day of the workshop, the keynote speaker Dr Ashok Kumar, Director Shri Ram College, spoke on the topic 'Fairness and transparency of examination system in educational institutions'. Speaking on his topic, he said that the Indian education system prioritizes competition over understanding of the subject, which promotes the culture of rote learning instead of real understanding. Higher institutions associated with entrance examinations put a lot of pressure on students, which sometimes leads to anxiety and stress related problems. He said that the modern examination system provides a standardized method to evaluate the students' understanding of the curriculum. This helps in maintaining uniformity in the education system and ensures fair assessment. He said that examinations are the only way to estimate the level of education of a student and to know whether the student is ready for his further studies or not. If examinations are based only on bookish education, then it will be really difficult to test the skills and knowledge of the students. He said that examination and assessment policies are important for education, which assess the progress of students and help in improving the learning process. He said that in order to maintain the standards of integrity and fairness, it is necessary to promote the culture of transparency and accountability and maintain purity in higher educational institutions.
