Today, on the occasion of 'International Human Rights Day', a seminar was organized in the premises of Shri Ram College of Law, Muzaffarnagar. The topic of this program was, 'Understanding Basic Human Rights in Modern India'. Hon'ble Justice Virendra Kumar, former Judge, Allahabad High Court Lucknow Bench was present as the chief guest in this program. The program was presided over by Dr. S.C. Kulshreshtha, Chairman, Shri Ram Group of Colleges, Muzaffarnagar and Dr. Ravindra Pratap Singh, Director Research and Principal Chaudhary Harchand Singh Mahavidyalaya, Khurja was the special guest. The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp and welcoming the guests with a bouquet of flowers. First of all, while starting the program, the spokesperson of the college, Anchal Agarwal said that a human being is born as a child and then after birth, he naturally gets the right to live a dignified life. There is no discrimination against any human being on the basis of religion or language. The United Nations issued the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" on 10 December 1948, due to which this day is organized every year.
All the lecturers of the college and the students of LLB, B.A.L.L.B. and B.Com. LLB participated enthusiastically in this program. In the seminar, the students presented their views on the subject of human rights. Among the participating students, Vansh Tyagi, Ariba Aamir, Akshita Varnwal, Hrdaya Kataria, Shreya Rajput, Akbar Rehan, Hurain Khan, Megha, Muskan Vashisht, Sania Shamsher, Gulfsha made the participants aware of the various dimensions of human rights.
Chief Guest Hon'ble Justice Virendra Kumar, former Judge, Allahabad High Court Lucknow Bench, while expressing his views, said that in a civilized society, human rights play an important role in the overall development of personality, it is a condition of social life without which a person cannot perform at his best. It is a fundamental requirement for a person to live a good life.
The chairman of the seminar, Dr. S.C. Kulshreshtha, Chairman, Shriram Group of Colleges, Muzaffarnagar said that the first need to understand human rights is for us, as citizens of a nation, we should understand the rights to which we are entitled. This situation will help us in exercising our rights and fighting against any exploitation.
On this occasion, Dr. Ravindra Pratap Singh, Director Research and Principal, Chaudhary Harchand Singh College, Khurja, the special guest, said in his views that human rights are not only about rights, but also about duties. We should exercise our rights while respecting the freedom of other individuals.
