A one-day national seminar on the topic of advanced approach for manufacturing healthy and clean milk products was jointly organized by the Department of Agriculture Science, Home Science and Bio Science of Shri Ram College. The seminar was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Savita Arya, Senior Scientist Home Science K.V.K. Baghra, Special Guest Dr. Deepak Sharma, Scientist Dairy Science K.V.K. Baghra, Principal of Shri Ram College Dr. Prerna Mittal, Director of Shri Ram College Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dean Academic Dr. Vineet Sharma, Director Shri Ram College of Pharmacy Dr. Girendra Gautam, Head of Bioscience Department Dr. Vipin Saini, Head of Home Science Department Dr. Shweta Rathi and Head of Agriculture Department Dr. Naeem by jointly lighting the lamp.
On this occasion, Chief Guest Dr. Savita Arya, Senior Scientist Home Science K.V.K. Baghra, in her address said that milk is considered a complete diet. Because milk contains all the elements that provide essential nutrition to the body. That is why all the nutrients are obtained by feeding milk to the baby. Milk is an essential diet from newborn to old age. Milk is a powerful source of calcium and potassium which strengthens bones and teeth. Also, lactose sugar in milk acts as an instant energy source while the spectrum of vitamins and minerals including vitamin B promotes healthy functioning of the nervous system. Milk plays an important role in keeping the brain and body healthy. On this occasion, Dr. Deepak Sharma, Scientist Dairy Science K.V.K. Baghra told how dangerous the consumption of adulterated milk can be for our body. If we consume adulterated milk, it has a serious impact on our health. Adulteration like water, urea etc. reduces the nutrition of milk. Regular consumption of adulterated milk can cause digestive problems, food poisoning and long-term health problems. It has a greater impact on children and elderly people. Therefore, we should stay away from consuming adulterated milk. We should buy milk from reliable sources only.On this occasion, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director of Shriram College, said in his address that National Milk Day is celebrated every year on 26 November, the credit for which goes to Dr. Verghese Kurien. Dr. Verghese Kurien contributed a lot to increase milk production and promote dairy. Therefore, Dr. Verghese Kurien is also called Milkman All India. In collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board, the Indian Dairy Association and 22 state level milk federations decided to celebrate Dr. Verghese Kurien's birthday as Milk Day in 2014.The purpose of this program was to make all the students aware about Milk Day and adulteration in milk products. During the seminar, different competitions were organized in which in the poster competition, first place was secured by Uttam Pratap, Pari Kumari, Wajiha Haider from the Department of Agriculture, second place by Mohammad Amrullah, Mohammad Shahid Afridi and third place by Aniket Kumar, Rabish Kumar and consolation prize was secured by Aditya Raj. In the poster competition in Home Science, first place was secured by Firdous Zaidi, second place by Prachi, third by Almisba and consolation prize was awarded to Alisha and Farheen and in the poster competition in the Department of Bioscience, first place was secured by Shamshir, second by Vansh, third by Afia Khan and consolation prize was awarded to Anushka and Harshit Dubey.In Oral Presentation, first place was secured by Razia Rauf (Bioscience), second by Firdous Zaidi (Home Science) and third by Almisba (Home Science).In this one day seminar, 250 students from all the three departments (Home Science, Agriculture Department and Bioscience Department) participated enthusiastically in which 110 poster competitions, 04 guest lectures, 25 oral presentations were attended by the participants. The one-day seminar was successfully conducted by Assistant Lecturer of Agriculture Department, Umara Rahmani and in making the program successful, Head of Department of Agricultural Sciences, Dr. Naeem, Department Lecturer, Dr. Vikrant, Dr. Anjali, Dr. Praveen Malik, Dr. Suhail Sardar, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Dr. Riya Jakhawal, Abid, Rajkumar, Suraj Kumar, and Head of Department of Home Science, Dr. Shweta Rathi and Lecturers Ruby Poswal, Isha Arora, Alina Siddiqui, Sophia Ansari, Kajal Mavi, Ayesha Gor, and Head of Department of Bio Science, Dr. Vipin Saini, Vikas Kumar, Ankit Kumar, Sachin Kumar, Ashu, Shalini Mishra, Darshika Sharma, Disha Sharma, Shaba Rana, Zehra Hussaini, Mohd. Salman, Tanu Tyagi, Ayushi Pal, Anupriya Singhal, Divya Patiyal etc. played an important role.
