A weekly workshop on Cybersecurity

The Computer Faculty of Shri Ram College organized a weekly workshop on Cybersecurity. This workshop was organized by Cisco and NIT Foundation. Expert Gagan Arora from NIT Foundation highlighted various aspects of cybersecurity and said that it is a field that works to protect digital devices, networks, and data from various threats. In today's time, when the Internet and digital technology are being used in every field, the need for cybersecurity has increased tremendously.

The main objective of cybersecurity is to protect important data and systems from incidents like cybercrime, data theft, and hacking. For this, various techniques and processes are used so that any unauthorized person or organization can be prevented from accessing sensitive information. There are some major challenges related to cybersecurity, which make it more important. Hackers and cybercriminals are constantly inventing new ways so that they can break security measures. Due to this, cybersecurity experts always have to be ready to deal with new threats.

As more and more devices are getting connected to the internet, it is creating new opportunities for cyber criminals. Securing these devices is also challenging as they often do not have strong security measures in place.

Sometimes threats come from within an organisation. For example, an employee may leak sensitive data intentionally or unintentionally. Dealing with such incidents is a big challenge for cyber security.

Shedding light on various cyber threats, he said that malware is a type of harmful software, which includes viruses, worms and spyware. Their purpose is to harm the system. Under phishing, fraudsters try to trap users through emails or messages, so that they can steal sensitive information such as passwords or credit card information. Through DDoS attack, hackers bring a website or service to a standstill by sending a huge amount of traffic to it. Through ransomware, hackers lock any system or data and demand ransom to get it back.

After this, he told many measures of cyber security, such as you can protect the system from malware and virus with the help of antivirus software. He told that always create a long and complex password and keep changing it regularly. Keep updating the system regularly and unauthorized access can be prevented by using firewall.

Finally, while throwing light on various career options in the field of cyber security, he said that students can work in this field as cyber security analyst, network security engineer, ethical hacker and information security manager.

Dean of Computer Faculty Nishant Rathi told that cyber security has become a very important subject in today's digital age. Be it a person or an organization, security of their data and network is necessary for everyone. This can be an exciting and important field for those interested in cyber security, because the demand for this field is likely to increase further in the coming times. He congratulated 200 students who secured more than 70% marks in the examination conducted by Cisco by giving them certificates.

The college director Dr. Ashok Kumar expressed his gratitude and praised the organization of this workshop and said that through such events, students remain aware of the expansion and technology happening in the field of information technology and their technical knowledge develops.

The main participants in this workshop were Neetu Singh, Vishwas Kumar, Sanjay Kant Tyagi, Amit Tyagi, Praveen Kumar, Dr. Pramod Kumar, Himanshu Hora, Siddhant Garg, Ankur Rohela, Navneet Chauhan, Ajay Kumar, Rahul Gautam, Rahul Mainwal, Shubham Tayal, Nidhi, Vidhi Tayal, Vaishnavi Shukla, Kuldeep Dhiman, Ravikesh Kumar, Amit Rathi, Hans Kumar, Manoj Pundir, Dinesh Yadav etc.
