Annual Sports Competition-2023

The “Annual Sports Competition-2023” was inaugurated in the sports ground of Shri Ram College. Cricket, chess and carrom competitions were organized on the first day of the annual sports competition-2023 which started today. The men's title of Carrom 2023 was won by Saurabh Kumar of BCA and the women's title by Sneha Bhalla of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. In the same chess, Shoaib of BALLB won in men's category and Nikita Kashyap of BALLB won in women's category.

Like every year, this year too, a week-long sports program started with a cricket competition at the sports ground of Shri Ram College. Today's first match in league matches was played between the teams of B.Sc (Agriculture Science) department and Pharmacy department. In which the team of BSC (Agriculture Science) won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, the pharmacy team set a target of 121 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 15 overs. In reply, the team of BSC (Agriculture Science) came out to chase the target and achieved the target by losing 3 wickets. The next match was played between the teams of Boys Hostel and BTech. In which the Boys Hostel team, batting first, scored 100 runs for the loss of 5 wickets and set a target of 101 runs against the opposition team. In response, the team of Betak came out to play and piled on 95 runs after losing 07 wickets. In this way the Boys Hostel team won by 6 runs.

In men's carrom competition, Saurabh Kumar stood first, Sujit Kumar stood second and Tushar Baliyan stood third. In women's carrom competition, Sneha Bhalla stood first, Anshika JMC stood second and Muskaan BSC (PCM) stood third. In the men's chess competition, Shoaib stood first, Ajay Kumar second and Kunal Katariya third. In the women's category, Nikita Kashyap stood first, Nishika Kashyap stood second and Riya Goyal stood third.

Giving information on this occasion, Shriram Group of Colleges Sports Officer Prof. Pramod Kumar said that in these week-long sports programs, along with cricket competitions, chess, carrom, table tennis, badminton, kho- In kho, volleyball and athletics, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 meter races as well as shot put, discus throw, long jump, high jump etc. will be organized. He said that on the last day of the sports week, the sportspersons who performed brilliantly would be rewarded. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of Shri Ram College, Dr. Prerna Mittal said that sports have an important contribution in the development of the youth of the country. While sports develop leadership skills in the students, organizing such sports programs at the college level also provides a platform to the players at the national and international level. Due to which sports talents get an opportunity to shine.

Amardeep, Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan, Bhupendra, Sandeep Kumar, Prashant, Tarun and Vishwadeep, spokesperson of the Department of Physical Education, contributed significantly in making the program a success.
