A seminar was organized by Agriculture Department of Shri Ram College in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Muzaffarnagar. This seminar was organized on the topic of Crop Residue Management. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Aditya Gautam, Director of the Institute, Dr. Prerna Mittal, Principal, Dr. Naeem, Head of Agriculture Department and Dr. P.K. Singh, Dr. Surender Kumar, Dr. Yashpal Singh, Dr. Sanjay Kumar.
The goal of the seminar was to increase the fertility of the land by using the crop residue and make it capable without burning it. President of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Muzaffarnagar, Dr. P.K. Singh told that Kishan Bhai is currently burning the residue coming out of his crops, due to which the environment is polluted, but along with the beneficial micro-organisms living inside the soil and the micro-elements present inside the soil are also destroyed. Due to which the fertility of our land ends in the coming time. And to grow crops, chemicals have to be used. The amount of carbon present inside the soil is reduced, due to which the water holding power of the soil is gradually lost. For its treatment, we should not burn the crop residue, but mix it inside the soil.
